Vajrasattva, also known as Dorje Sempa, is a prominent Buddhist deity and the "Lord of the Mandalas." He represents the innocence of the enlightened mind and is central to Vajrayana Buddhism, which emphasizes purification and purity. Vajrasattva, a sambhogakaya manifestation, unifies all five Buddha families within himself. His white form unifies all five hues, and his right-hand holds a Dorje symbol of his unbreakable nature to his heart. He shows compassion by having a bell in his left hand that rests on his hip. The artwork in this Thangka eloquently portrays Dorje Sema in his recognizable form, symbolizing the harmony of compassion and wisdom. All schools of Tibetan Buddhism use the hundred-syllable mantra associated with Vajrasattva to purify the mind.
