The Hevajra Thangka is not merely a piece of art but a profound spiritual tool. It embodies the path to enlightenment, offering practitioners a visual representation of the goal—union with the enlightened mind. It is revered as a means to connect with the divine and as a reminder of the transformative potential of tantric practices.
This Hevajra Thangka Painting, created by skilled artists on cotton canvas using vegetable pigment colors, is a powerful tool for combating greed and serving as a protective figure within the realm of tantra in Buddhism. His art is significant in igniting the inner fury fire of the central nervous system, which transforms the inner drops from the brain to the groin and cultivates the subtle subjectivity of great bliss. Nairatmya Hevajra's consort represents a profound wisdom, representing a Tantric aspect of Prajnaparamita, the Mother of all Buddhas. He has sixteen arms, eight faces, and four legs, representing the cleansing of the eight liberations and the fourfold barriers to enlightenment. A commentary on the Hevajra Tantra reveals that four Hindu deities embody one of the four Maras. Hevajra's sixteen arms represent the cleansing of the sixteen voids, while his right hands hold a series of cups containing various creatures and deities. The skull cup holds in multiple hands symbolizes the intellectual dimension of the body, communication, consciousness, mortality, and the transient nature of existence. Nairatmya, Hevajra's partner, possesses two hands and two legs, with her left leg intertwining with Hevajra and her right leg embracing his waist. They are both decorated with bone ornaments and wear a garland of skulls, with Nairatmya wearing a skirt made from tiger skin.
